Trip to Urgent Care

Saturday was the day I decided it was time to confirm my suspicions about the pain in my right big toe.  I have been having quite a bit of pain in my toe for a couple of weeks.  I blamed it on my worn out sneakers, after all I had been wearing them for at least six years.  I thought they were just getting broken in good.

The weather was cool and overcast so I thought it would be a good time to get it checked out. Judy went with me to the nearest urgent care, only a mile or so from the park.  We checked in and had a seat in the waiting area along with the four or five people ahead of me. After a few minutes I knew why they were seeking medical attention. I would say they were well into the flu and their symptoms were clear. After I completed the required paper work I suggested for Judy to wait in the car. She was overjoyed to leave the waiting area for the car.

I waited another forty-five minutes until I was taken back. I told the PA my diagnosis and he confirmed it, an ingrown toenail. He told me he could take care of it quick, fast, and in a hurry. He said nothing about painless though. After about five painful numbing shots he went to work. Thankfully, I could not see what he was doing but I could feel him probing and clipping or cutting. If he sensed it was painful to me he just shot some more Novocain or whatever it was into my toe. Twenty minutes after starting it was over.  I went to CVS and got two prescriptions filled and Judy took me home and I have taken it easy since then. I am going in for follow up tomorrow (Tue).

To add to my misery the Falcons choked again ending their run for a Super Bowl spot.

That is all for now. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Ouch. I know that pain. I have one on my left big toe that I've had to have fixed occasionally. I hope that you feel better soon!

    1. I went back for follow-up today and the PA dug around and removed even more. I think he has gotten it all now! If you eventually have yours removed remember I only hurts a little while.

  2. ouch, ouch, ouch! Needles in my toes make me cringe, not sure why. I survived the vasectomy but can't imagine a needle in my toe, go figure! LOL
Hope you get to feeling better soon.

  3. That looked and sounded painful! While I cringe at the idea of getting that many shots, I'm glad that the doctor knew when to administer them to lessen the pain and discomfort. Hopefully you don't have to deal with that again.
